Electromagnetic Flow Meter Applied in Plate Heat Exchange Station

1. General Introduction

At present in China, heat supply mainly includes centralized heating, separate heating, and simple heating.

As the core equipment for the centralized heating supply, the heat exchange station runs with a fixed heat reservoir (power station, etc.). Inside the station, plate heat exchanger heats the secondary supplied water, the circulation pump circulated the heated water and the make-up pump stabilizes water supply together to ensure heat supply operates smoothly.

2. Application

There are two flow measurement pipelines in the heat exchanging system: water make-up system and water supply system.

 

Plate Heat Exchange Station

1). Flow Measurement for Water Make-up System

Flow in water make-up pipelines is mostly measured by an integrated electromagnetic flowmeter applied with a make-up pump in general. When the water in heat supply pipelines flows less than normal volume, it will be supplied by a make-up pump, and the made-up volume will be measured by the flow meter. The make-up pump will stop work when the water is made up to the volume as required.

As the made-up water volume is an exact number, the flow meter used for the make-up system shall bear high accuracy and stability.

2). Flow Measurement for Water Supply System

Flow in primary and secondary water supply pipelines is mostly measured by the separate electromagnetic flow meter. Due to the high temperature in the water supply network and low temperature in the water discharging network, the flow meter is generally installed in the water discharging side.

However, because of the site situation of some heat exchange stations, the flow meter must be installed in the water supply side, it requires high-temperature resistance for the flow meter. As the negative pressure will occur when maintenance is performed or accidents happen in the water supply pipelines, the flow meter shall also have good negative pressure resistance.
