The Application
As global green hydrogen capacity rapidly scales, precise pressure control in water electrolysis is critical. Within the electrolyzer system, maintaining a strict pressure balance between hydrogen and oxygen streams is vital to prevent hazardous gas cross-over, backflow, and potential explosion risks.

The Challenge

A leading hydrogen equipment manufacturer faced distinct measurement hurdles at the gas-liquid separation stage:
• Hydrogen Permeation & Embrittlement: High-purity hydrogen atoms readily permeate standard metal transmitter diaphragms, altering their strain characteristics and causing brittle fractures.
• Oxygen Ignition Risks: High-pressure oxygen environments drastically accelerate oxidation. Any residual grease or hydrocarbon contamination within the instrument acts as a potential fuel source, presenting a severe risk of spontaneous combustion.
The Solution

To address these extreme process conditions, Micro Sensor deployed the MDM7000 Smart Pressure Transmitter at critical monitoring points across both hydrogen and oxygen separators.
To combat hydrogen embrittlement, the transmitters utilize advanced gold-plated or specialized anti-permeation diaphragms. For the oxygen line, the devices undergo a rigorous, certified oxygen-cleaning protocol to guarantee an entirely oil- and grease-free process connection.
Since commissioning, the transmitters have delivered stable, maintenance-free operation with zero measurement drift, ensuring a fully compliant and accident-free production site.
Why Choose MDM7000?
±0.075% Accuracy for Precise Control
Built with a 2nd-gen monocrystalline silicon sensor. It delivers highly accurate data to keep differential pressure perfectly balanced.
10-Year Stability, Less Maintenance
Features a 100:1 turndown ratio and stays stable (±0.1% SPAN/10 years), even under 420bar static pressure. This means fewer recalibrations and much lower maintenance costs.
Rugged Dual-Chamber Design
The modular, dual-chamber housing completely separates the electronics from the process gas. Combined with custom diaphragms, it blocks hydrogen leaks and keeps your plant safe.
Global Certifications for Harsh Environments
Fully certified by ATEX, IECEx, CSA, and NEPSI for hazardous areas. With its laser-welded seal and IP67 waterproof rating, it runs reliably in the toughest conditions.
